Advice on settlements

I got married 15 months ago and we are now in the process of getting divorced, we separated in November, he petitioned against me. I bought a house 6 years ago, but he never contributed towards the mortgage roughly about a year before we got married, he is wanting a settlement of £7k which i think is really unreasonable. He has taken all his possessions plus nearly £2,500 worth of goods in the house. What should i do? I have a solicitor involved but its putting me in financial problems as they are so expensive.
