I split from the mother of my children 10 years ago and since then i have paid £500 a month maintanence through private agreement with my ex partner .

My children are now 16 and 14 - can you tell me at what age i can stop paying this money to their mother ?

I think its when your children reach 16yr that you can reduce or stop the payments. The csa web site has more info concerning this.

Just out of interest where the csa involve form the begining if so how did you find them....??

I can see whaere you are coming from - but just because the kids are 16 doesn't mean they dont need maintenance - unless your ex is able to keep them on her own by finding a decent job? As an ex wife, I know that my maintenance will end when my child reaches 18 (as agreed at court)  - but I worry as to how I can keep a roof over his head when he intends to go to uni. without the maintenance as I cannot afford to keep this house on if the maintenance stops - please talk to you ex and reach an agreement as it is thechildren that you need to put first. My ex wants to stop maintaince when the children are 18.i think it should continue for as long as they are in education and staying at home. He would do if still at home cant see the difference . Other than he has bought a new house with his new partner and has no money left for the kids. Selfish of him not to consider the children first
