Serving divorce papers

I received a visit at home from a well built man who claimed to have been sent by the court.  Foolishly I allowed him in after which he became threatening and demanded that I sign the divorce petition.  I have refused to do this because my wife has made untrue statements and I have been denied access to my daughter since August.

Would a court official do this?
